A forest fire that broke out in Uiseong County, North Gyeongsang Province, four days ago, spread rapidly across Andong City on the afternoon of the 25th due to strong winds.

The Korea Forest Service announced that it had raised the national forest fire danger alert to a "serious" level for the whole of South Korea at 4 p.m. on the 25th.
Large-scale forest fires that broke out in Sancheong, South Gyeongsang Province, Uiseong, North Gyeongsang Province, and Ulju, Ulsan City on the 22nd have not yet been fully extinguished, and the fires are being reported across the country.
The government explained that it had decided to raise the national emergency alert level in order to respond with all its efforts to the disaster crisis caused by wildfires in the area.
In areas where a national crisis alert was issued at a "severe" level, more than a quarter of local civil servants and two-thirds of public service workers were killed.
