South Korean intelligence authorities have captured footage of China installing steel structures in the Provisional Measures Zone (PMZ) in the Yellow Sea since April last year.
The Yellow Sea PMZ is part of the area where the exclusive economic zones (EEZs) of China and South Korea overlap, and the two governments jointly manage fishery resources. Activities such as the construction of facilities and resource development, except for navigation and fishing, are prohibited.
"If things continue as they are, there is a danger that China will insist that the West Sea is theirs," Han said.
He continued, "The 28th of this month is West Sea Day. There is no difference between the ruling and opposition parties in the face of provocations that threaten our sovereignty."
