Cho Seung-rae, chief spokesman for the Democratic Party, said in a commentary that afternoon, "Han has been granted a veto by the Constitution and confirmed by the Constitutional Court.
"He has neglected his duties to appoint officials and has used his veto power, which is an inherent power of the president, to his own advantage," Cho said.
The veto power is used to protect the public from the abuse of power by President Yoon Seok-yeol, the mastermind behind the rebellion.
"However, there is nothing in the amendment bill that requires company directors to serve the interests of shareholders that could be considered a violation of the Constitution or an infringement of rights."
He continued, "Even the Justice Ministry of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration has admitted that the veto on the Commercial Law amendment bill was unjust. Financial Supervisory Service Chairman Lee Bok-hyun has said that he will 'risk his job' to block the veto."
"The Commercial Code amendment bill is a bill to protect the interests of small shareholders and increase corporate value.
"Only a few huge conglomerates and the People Power Party (the ruling party) will oppose it. In the end, Acting Prime Minister Han has proven himself to be a puppet of the vested interests, not a public servant of the people," he said sarcastically.
He added, "We will not succumb to the obstruction of the puppets. We will continue to promote ways to protect small shareholders and create an investment-friendly country, as well as improve the system."
