Samsung Electronics hires Italian industrial designer to strengthen product design - Korean media

Samsung Electronics has appointed world-renowned Italian industrial designer Mauro Porcini as CDO (Chief Design Officer) of its DX (Device Experience) division.
This is the first time that a Chinese person has been in charge of the design department at the company. CDO Porcini holds bachelor's and master's degrees in industrial design from the Polytechnic University of Milan. Since then, he has worked for a major Dutch medical device manufacturer.
He has served as a product designer for Royal Philips, a major American chemical company, and a CDO for the American beverage giant PepsiCo. In recognition of his contributions to spreading Italian design around the world, he was awarded the "Italian Design Award" by the government.
"Samsung has over 1,500 talented designers, visionary business leaders, and outstanding R&D teams," said CDO Porcini.
"I look forward to working with the team and making use of my diverse experience," he said. The appointment of Porcini as CDO is expected to improve Samsung Electronics' product designs.
"With the addition of CDO Porcini, we will be able to expand our design team across all areas of our business, including mobile devices, televisions, and home appliances," Samsung Electronics said.
"We plan to strengthen our capabilities," he said.
