Through this cooperation, MVL's TADA will provide its zero-commission ride-sharing system and know-how to DCC, which will operate it.
The company plans to launch the service in Denver, a city in the state of Indiana. Drivers in the US ride-sharing market are increasingly unhappy with the high fees charged by the platforms.
More than half of the money is deducted as commission, which has led to structural problems such as drivers' incomes being lower than the minimum wage in some areas, and this has led to widespread resentment among drivers.
As an alternative solution to this problem, a model of a cooperative platform run directly by drivers is gaining attention.
DCC is a platform that deals with unfair revenue distribution among existing ride-sharing platforms such as Uber and Lyft.
It is a cooperative established by drivers who have been raising issues with the current distribution structure. It aims to build a fairer service model, prioritizing transparency in fare distribution so that drivers can earn a more reasonable income.
MVL's TADA has been operating a ride-sharing service for seven years since it started operations in Singapore in 2018.
Unlike other platforms, the company introduced a model that does not charge drivers a commission, differentiating itself by allowing drivers to earn only the amount of money they spend. Through this, the company has rapidly become the second largest platform in the Singapore market.
It has grown into a platform and is currently expanding its services to five Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, and Hong Kong.
Through this collaboration between MVL's ride-sharing service TADA and DCC, MVL is expanding ride-sharing in the U.S.
We hope that this will solve the structural problems in the market and achieve fair revenue distribution for all market participants, including drivers and passengers. Traditional vehicle hailing platforms generally require high intermediary fees.
By imposing fees, the effective income of drivers was reduced. On the other hand, TADA adopts a fee-free operating method to ensure that drivers receive a fair income.
Through this partnership, drivers affiliated with the Denver DCC are expected to benefit from increased income, greater transparency and improved working conditions.
An MVL official said, "Considering the current problems in the U.S. ride-sharing market, TADA's zero commission model is attractive to local drivers.
"It will be an alternative," he said, "After testing locally this year, we will proceed with the official launch of the service, and based on the operational know-how we have accumulated in Southeast Asia, we will launch it in each state of the United States, starting with Denver, Colorado.
"We will comply with the market structure and regulations and establish ourselves in the U.S. market."
