A spokesman for the Democratic Party said at a press conference on the same day, "Yoon Seok-yeol (former President), who was impeached yesterday (4th), met with the ruling party's leaders and asked for victory in the next presidential election.
"The ruling party vowed to win the presidential election as soon as the impeachment was announced," the spokesman said. "The president they appointed caused a civil war and was impeached, yet they are running for the presidential election as if nothing happened.
"I am astonished at their audacity to vow to win the presidential election," he said. "If the ruling party is going to run in the presidential election, it must first thoroughly repent of its past mistakes and eliminate the forces of internal conflict.
"We must start by breaking away from the tyranny of the Yun administration," he said. The spokesman added, "The ruling party has been a bystander in the internal affairs of the Yun administration and has been ignoring him (former President Yun) since the December 3rd civil war (martial law)."
"Even after his impeachment, far from showing any remorse, he is trying to join hands with the mastermind of the civil war and run for the presidential election. At the (ruling party) general assembly, he said, 'I'm looking for supporters (of the impeachment bill)'.
"I was shocked to hear that there were even voices saying, 'Let's run for president.'" He continued, "Is the ruling party still not a 'civil war sympathizer' party?" and "If they want to run for president,
We must start by providing clear answers to these questions from the public."
