A man in his 40s who injured himself at Gwanghwamun Square in protest over the impeachment of former President Yoon Seok-yeol was given police protection and then allowed to return home.
A was found to have self-harmed with a weapon at around 9:50 a.m. on the same day at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul. Police were called to the scene after receiving the report and seized the weapon that A had in his possession.
In his conversation with the police, Mr. A reportedly said he was “dissatisfied with the impeachment of former President Yoon.”
