Police have recently filed a complaint against Nurse A of Daegu Catholic University Hospital for neonatal abuse.
On the 7th, the police revealed that they had conducted a search of the nurse's home and confiscated her mobile phone and other items. The search was reportedly carried out on the 4th. Nurse A had been seen sitting on her lap and holding the hospitalized newborn baby.
It was discovered that the man had been taking pictures of the girl and posting them on social media. He also wrote comments such as "I want to make her fall" and "I'm suffering from anger control disorder" on the posts.
After learning of these facts, the parents of the newborn reported that Nurse A had posted the photo along with inappropriate comments and that she was not allowed to wear sterile gloves when caring for patients.
On the 1st, the hospital filed a complaint with the police on suspicion of child abuse, citing that the nurse had not provided proper instructions. After the hospital became aware of the allegations of child abuse against Nurse A, it decided to remove her from her duties and to impose severe disciplinary measures.
The hospital is also conducting an independent investigation to see if there are any other nurses who were involved in child abuse. On the 5th, the hospital apologized on its YouTube channel.
Kim Yun-young, director of Daegu Catholic University Hospital, said, "Recently, many people have been affected by inappropriate behavior by nurses in the neonatal intensive care unit at our hospital.
"We deeply apologize for causing concern to our customers," he said, adding, "Hospital staff are also deeply shocked that something like this occurred with a newborn baby, who is the most vulnerable and should be protected.
Such actions cannot be justified for any reason."
