South Korean Unification Minister to visit Japan from the 9th to the 11th... Participate in ”High-level International Unification Dialogue”
South Korean Unification Minister Kim Young-ho will visit Tokyo from the 9th to the 11th for a three-day, two-night trip to attend a high-level international unification dialogue.
According to the Ministry of Unification on the 9th, Minister Kim will meet with Japanese government dignitaries and National Assembly officials during his visit.
Minister Kim will meet with people from various countries and visit the Foreign Correspondents' Club of Japan to hold a briefing on unification and North Korea policies.
Kim also said that this visit will strengthen cooperation between Japan and South Korea regarding unification and North Korea policy since the inauguration of the Cabinet of Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba.
The Ministry of Unification hopes that this initiative will contribute to promoting joint efforts between the two countries toward resolving the issue of abducted and detained Japanese nationals.
He said he hopes this will be an opportunity for the two countries to seriously discuss ways to cooperate in order to take relations to the next level and raise awareness of the unification of the Korean Peninsula within Japan.
Since the inauguration of President Moon Jae-in, the need for Japan-South Korea cooperation on North Korea policy has increased. The Ministry of Unification said, "Through these efforts, we will steadily pursue a principled unification and North Korea policy based on constitutional values."
We will continue to do so," he said.
