North Gyeongsang Province Assembly strongly denounces ”2025 Japan Diplomatic Bluebook” (South Korea)
On the 8th, South Korea's North Gyeongsang Province and the North Gyeongsang Provincial Council strongly condemned the 2025 Diplomatic Bluebook published by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and called for its withdrawal.
North Gyeongsang Province Governor Lee Cheol-woo issued a denunciation statement on the same day saying, "Dokdo (Long Island, Japanese name: Takeshima) is
"We will make it clear that Liancourt Rocks is an inherent part of the territory of the Republic of Korea and cannot be the subject of diplomatic negotiations or judicial settlement, and will respond firmly and sternly to Japan's unjust claims regarding Liancourt Rocks."
"Following the announcement of the distorted textbook screening results, the repeated unjustified claims regarding the sovereignty of Liancourt Rocks in the Diplomatic Bluebook will not contribute to building a future-oriented Korea-Japan relationship," he said.
"We hope that the Japanese government will maintain a correct understanding of history and move toward a future-oriented, friendly era of exchange and cooperation between Korea and Japan," he said.
Meanwhile, Park Seong-man, chairman of the North Gyeongsang Provincial Assembly, said, "The basis of international diplomacy is recognition of historical facts and mutual respect.
"Japan is still unable to escape from the shadow of history," he said, "and is engaging in serious provocative acts that distort historical facts and plant false perceptions in the international community, such as its aggressive assertion of sovereignty over Liancourt Rocks."
"Together with the 2.6 million people of Hokkaido, we will take firm action against this," he said.
