South Korean taekwondo instructor sentenced to 30 years in prison for killing 5-year-old boy by flipping him upside down into mat

The head of a taekwondo dojo in his 30s who abused and killed a five-year-old boy has been given a heavy sentence. On the 10th, the Uijeongbu District Court sentenced the head of a taekwondo dojo in his 30s, who was arrested and indicted on charges of child abuse and murder.
The court sentenced Defendant A to 30 years in prison. It also ordered him to complete a 40-hour child abuse treatment program and to be restricted from working in child-related institutions for 10 years.
The court ruled that "the defendant was aware that there was a risk or possibility that the victim would die if he were left unattended after the abuse.
Despite this, the victim was left alone for about 27 minutes." "He also abused other victimized children for a considerable period of time and acted as if he had only been playing pranks. Is there any truth to this?"
"It is difficult to even judge what is going on," the court ruled. "The defendant has tried to shift the responsibility to another teacher, and has deleted CCTV footage even when the victim was unconscious.
He also said, "The nature of his crime is serious, as he forced the teacher to give false testimony and attempted to destroy evidence." He added, "Any ordinary person would have been aware that there was a risk of death."
On July 12th of last year, Defendant A placed Boy B (age 5 at the time of death) upside down in a rolled up mat at a Taekwondo dojo in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, and left him there until he died.
At the time, B-kun was screaming, "Let him out," and the teacher who was at the scene also said that he should let him out, but A-suspect ignored him.
It was determined that Defendant A had been abusing B by hitting him several times on the face and body. B was eventually found in a coma and taken to the hospital, but Defendant A deleted the CCTV footage that had captured his crime.
It was discovered that he had routinely physically and mentally abused approximately 20 other children, including B, 124 times, by placing them upside down on mats, pinching their cheeks, and hitting them.
