China's auto production, sales off to good start in first quarter: Chinese report

According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, a series of policies to promote consumption have proven effective this year, improving the quality of the consumer market and helping the automobile industry get off to a good start.
In the first quarter of this year (January to March), China's automobile production volume increased 14.5% year-on-year to 7.561 million units, while sales volume increased 11.2% year-on-year to 7.47 million units.
Of these, new energy vehicle (NEV) production increased 50.4% to 3,182,000 units, while sales increased 47.1% to 3,075,000 units.
The number of new vehicles sold accounted for 41.2% of the total number of new vehicle sales. China's automobile exports continue to grow, and its influence overseas is also constantly increasing. Among them, the number of NEV exports was 440,000.
The number of new electric vehicles produced in the country increased by 1,000 units, up 43.9% from the previous year. An official from the association said, "The rapid increase in production and sales of NEVs is supporting the smooth operation of the entire automobile market."
