Kwon Young-se, chairman of the People's Power Emergency Response Committee, calls the idea of Han Deok-soo, acting president, being selected in an internal party election ”an act that shakes the foundations of the party and damages its reputation” (Korea)
On the 15th, Kwon Yeong-sei, head of the People Power Party's emergency response committee, said, "Recently, some people have been saying that after the party's (primary) elections, there will be a plan for certain people, and the rules may change."
"The party is raising its own claims, but this is an act that shakes the foundations of the party and damages its reputation," he said.
"The party must be run in accordance with the party constitution, party rules, and precedents. All candidates must start from the same starting line, and no one is an exception," he said.
This is because some in the party are considering applying a special exception to allow Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, who is acting as the president, to participate in the party election late, or running as an independent.
This is being interpreted as a warning message against the discussions being held about how to unify the party with the People's Power candidate after the election.
We must firmly eliminate any divisive words or actions that undermine the dignity of the party and stigmatize others. Anyone who tries to undermine the party's standards and the principles of internal party elections will be severely reprimanded to the end.
"All members of the People Power Party must once again bear in mind the fact that the restoration of power cannot be achieved without internal divisions and begins with unity. Even the slightest confusion is enough.
"I ask that fair and clear standards be established to prevent this from happening," he added.
