Democratic Party candidate Lee Jae-myung wins overwhelming victory in Chungcheong Province primary election: ”We accept your desire to create a new country” (South Korea)
In response to Lee Jae-myung, the primary candidate for the Democratic Party of Japan, winning first place with an overwhelming number of votes in Chungcheong-do, the first primary election site, he said, "Let's create a new country.

In the primary election in Chungcheong Province, candidate Lee won an overwhelming majority, receiving a total of 57,057 votes (88.15% of the votes).
Candidate Kim Dong-yeon received 4,883 votes (7.54%), while candidate Kim Kyung-soo received only 2,790 votes (4.31%).
He received 55,948 votes from the Democratic Party for Rights members and 1,109 votes from the delegates, coming in first in both categories. Candidate Lee said, "When we took power, we took control of the government, and the Democratic Party of Korea became the huge ruling party.
In response to a question about how he will moderate his power, he refrained from saying, "We are not in the general election yet, we are in the preliminary elections, so I will do my best to become the Democratic Party's candidate."
When asked about the reasons for his victory, Lee said, "There are some things that we can speculate about why the people and my party members support me.
Regarding the results of the primary election in Chungcheong Province, candidate Kim Kyung-soo said, "I think this is just the beginning. During the remaining period, I will convey my sincerity and vision to party members.
Regarding the unification with candidate Kim Dong-yeon, he said, "The biggest goal of this primary is to create an overwhelming change of government through a primary where everyone wins.
"I don't think unifying the two parties has much meaning in this primary election," he said, dismissing the possibility of unifying the two parties. Candidate Kim Dong-yeon, who received the second highest vote share, responded to a question about his goal for the upcoming primary election by saying, "
My goal is to win. This is just the beginning. I will do my best in the upcoming local primaries and opinion polls," he vowed.
The announcement of the election results will continue until the 27th of this month. The 20th will be for Gyeongsang Province, the 26th for Jeolla Province, and the 27th for the capital area, Gangwon Province, and Jeju Province.
The party plans to determine its presidential candidate by taking into account the results of the regional party member vote and the general public opinion poll to be conducted from the 21st to the 27th, with each taking 50% into account.
