When asked about his presidential run, Han said, ”No comment...I haven't decided yet.”

On the 20th, Acting President and Prime Minister Han Deok-soo said, "We will not respond" to the US tariffs. When asked if he would run for president, he said he had not yet decided.
In an interview with the British daily newspaper Financial Times (FT) published on the same day, Han said about the tariff negotiations with the US, "We want to find a way to achieve a win-win for both sides.
"The United States played a huge role in shaping South Korea into what it is today," Han said. "Since the Korean War, the United States has provided aid, technology transfers, investment, and security.
He added, "This has helped create a very comfortable investment environment for foreigners in Korea."
Han said, "The negotiations include the purchase of American liquefied natural gas (LNG) and commercial aircraft.
"We can first discuss measures to reduce the trade surplus with the United States," he said, predicting that "increased cooperation in the shipbuilding industry will also help the United States strengthen the alliance." Measures to lower non-tariff barriers will also be discussed.
He mentioned that there is a possibility that this could happen.
