South Korean ruling party lawmaker: ”Prime Minister Han Deok-soo should not run for office”... ”It goes against the wishes of the people”

Rep. Ahn Cheol-soo, a candidate in the ruling party's primary election to decide the official candidate for the next South Korean presidential election, announced on the 24th that he would be joining Prime Minister Han Deok-soo, who is rumored to be running for president.

He also said, "If he runs without any justification or decision, he will not be able to gain the support of the people," and "Some political forces within the party are running only for their own interests.
"We are encouraging Acting President Han to run for office, but we hope that he will perform his public duties with dignity to the very end," he said.
He continued, "I am well aware of Acting President Han's ability and virtue," and "However,
"There is no justification or practical benefit to running. This would be the same as former President Yoon running again, and there is no way he could defeat former Democratic Party leader Lee Jae-myung," he added.
