The Supreme Court's Judicial Administration Office announced on the 28th that it will launch the Judicial Office Artificial Intelligence Committee as an advisory body to the Chief Judicial Administration Office in order to innovate judicial operations using artificial intelligence (AI) technology.
According to the legal community, the Administrative Office of the Courts held a pre-launch meeting for the Judicial Branch Artificial Intelligence Committee on the 25th. The committee will set up a control committee to effectively promote the introduction of AI in the judicial branch.
The committee will include experts from within the judiciary and from outside the judiciary. Through this, it will present the direction of the introduction of AI into the judiciary and review the ongoing AI development projects and roadmap for the judiciary.
The committee will be comprised of influential people from both inside and outside the courts who have expertise and practical experience in AI, including large-scale language models, and are influential in related fields.
The AI committee will review the direction of the introduction of AI technology in the judiciary and related development projects. First, it will deliberate the direction and priorities of the introduction of AI technology in the judiciary.
We will review the development projects and roadmaps currently underway in the judiciary, as well as specific issues and implementation plans for development projects that introduce artificial intelligence technology.
In addition, the government will begin examining the laws and systems necessary to introduce artificial intelligence into the judicial branch.
The committee will also consider legal interpretations and legislative proposals necessary to check and improve risk factors associated with the introduction of AI, such as information protection.
The government will also consider how to improve the use of artificial intelligence to protect judicial data such as judgments and the disclosure of public services.
The government will begin identifying businesses necessary to improve accessibility and to create an environment for legal support for the socially vulnerable.
An official from the Court Administration Office said, "This year's long-term roadmap and pilot program
"We plan to propose a new project and establish a systematic roadmap for promoting AI-based judicial informatization," he said. "Through this, we will strengthen public access to justice, increase the efficiency of judicial work, and streamline the judicial branch.
"It is expected that this will help prevent legal risks in the process of protecting data and introducing AI," he explained.
The goal is to build a judicial information system, and in particular to strengthen cooperation with external partner institutions and support efficient and fair trials.
