On April 30th, Netflix reported that "Weak Hero Class 2" was ranked first in the Global Top 10 Series (Non-English) category.
It also ranked second in the global TV series rankings on the OTT ranking aggregation service Flick Patrol.
The film deals with the case of Park Ji Hoon, a model student who lives with the trauma of being unable to protect others, facing greater violence. Class 1 will be released on wavve in 2022.
However, its sequel, Class 2, was released on Netflix. In particular, Class 1, which was released on Netflix prior to the release of Class 2, rose to third place in global charts in just one day.
The series was a huge hit worldwide, garnering attention. Building on this momentum, Class 2 is gaining huge popularity, following on from its predecessor.
The global success of the "Weak Hero" series was foreseen.
It is a school action TV series that can be enjoyed by anyone. Especially, Class1 has been receiving rave reviews from around the world since it was first aired on wavve, with its solid storytelling, detailed direction, and excellent performances by the actors.
Class 2 was also well received by viewers and critics, but it was not able to portray Yeon Si-eun's growth story and the relationships between the characters with enough density.
Popular culture critic Kim Hong-sik said, "'Weak Hero' is not a work that gives you a sense of satisfaction with its shocking action scenes. It is a work that focuses on friendship and growth between friends."
However, critics said, "The characters' development and character development in Class1 are not that great.
"It's unfortunate that the story has depth," he said, adding, "If they are going to make a new season, it would be better to focus on the essence and deal with a deeper story rather than expanding the scale."
