South Korean government provides 500 million won in special disaster grants for Daegu wildfires
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety of South Korea (equivalent to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications in Japan) has decided to provide 500 million won of special disaster safety grants to the Daegu region, which was hit by a wildfire on the 28th of last month, in order to quickly restore damage and provide support to victims.
The aid will cover the cost of firefighting, including personnel and equipment used to put out the fires, the restoration of lost forests and facilities, and relief for victims.
The decision was made after taking into consideration the costs of emergency restoration in the affected areas. Acting Minister of the Interior and Safety Go Ki-dong said, "We will provide support so that residents affected by the wildfires can return to their daily lives as soon as possible."
"We will spare no effort," he said, adding that the national and local governments will work closely together to ensure swift and systematic recovery from the wildfires.
