Actor Lee Hae Yeong revealed that he had a hard time with action scenes. Lee Hae Yeong appeared on the big screen as the legendary killer "Jo Gak" in the movie "Bag", which is based on the novel of the same name.
In particular, she was born in 1962 and was able to perfectly execute the action scenes of a killer in his 60s, who is both seasoned with years of experience and physically limited, inflicting fatal damage on his opponent with minimal movement.
During a recent interview with Herald POP at a cafe in Seogyeok-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, Lee Hae Yeong revealed that she had hurt her ribs during filming.
She said, "I didn't think I was suitable for the role of Jo Gak. I didn't want to play her because she's such an old lady. But I was attracted to the power she possesses."
She continued, "There isn't much action in the original work, but the director said, 'I'm going to do an action movie,' so I said, 'I'm anxious and scared.' At first, he said I didn't need to do action, but then he said, 'I'm going to do an action movie,' so I said, 'I'm nervous and scared.'
"People who read the book said it should have a bit more action, so let's add a bit more," he said. I think there was a way to do the Chogaku that I do without a lot of action, but
"I broke my rib during the kidnapping scene. I collapsed and couldn't breathe, so I just lay down on the sofa and stayed still. I finished within the scheduled time frame.
"I had to break it, so I left it as it was. Then I broke it again. I was worried that I would break my body and not be able to do the movie properly. I was overcome with anxiety and loneliness," he said.
"Even when I was just jogging, I had to go to the orthopedic clinic. When Cho Yeop (played by Ok Ja Yeon) was taking control, my wrist hurt so I went to the hospital. It was a hot day, but
I had to wear underwear at the porter level. There were many factors that prevented me from immersing myself in the performance. It was physically demanding, and it was not easy to perform on the boundary between emotion and technique.
"The night I was doing the peeing scene, I would wake up many times and he would appear in my dreams. Unlike Jo Gak, I'm easily scared," she recalled.
"Broken Fruit," starring Lee Hae Yeong, is currently being screened in Korea and receiving rave reviews.
