”It went too far”: Burger King faces class action lawsuit over false advertising

Burger King is going to court in the US over false advertising. A federal court has ruled that Burger King's ads make the patties look bigger than they actually are.
On the 7th (local time), local media such as NBC reported that the Florida District Court had filed a lawsuit against Burger King in 2022.
The court reportedly decided to go ahead with the class action lawsuit against King for false advertising, finding the plaintiffs' claims to have merit.
Prior to this, 19 consumers from 13 states in the United States
The lawsuit alleges that when advertising its signature Whopper cheeseburger, the company "made the patty appear 35% larger than it actually was and represented it as having more ingredients than it actually did."
They are asking Burger King to return the profits it made from false advertising and to stop selling the menu items. The lawsuit includes photos of consumers side-by-side comparisons of the actual burger with the advertised burger.
The photographs were submitted as evidence. The court also said, "Reasonable consumers understand that the purpose of menu photographs is to make food look delicious, and that when photographing for advertising purposes, ingredients should be placed in the front so that they are easily visible.
"The problem raised by the plaintiffs is that the placement of the product in the United States is not a misleading practice in any jurisdiction, including Florida," Judge Roy Oltman wrote.
Burger King's complaint was dismissed, stating that the allegations go beyond the scope of the law, and the trial was continued. After the court's decision, Burger King stated that the plaintiff's claims were groundless and that
"The grilled beef patties featured in the ad are the same ones used in millions of burgers served across America."
Similar lawsuits have been filed against other fast food chains, including McDonald's and Wendy's.
All of those lawsuits were dismissed in September of last year.
