A cram school teacher in his 30s who secretly filmed schoolgirls 140 times using a modified iPhone was sentenced to three years and six months in prison in South Korea.

A man in his 30s who used a specially modified iPhone to illegally photograph the body parts of unspecified women, including female students at the cram school where he works, has been sentenced to prison.
According to the Korean legal profession on the 9th, the Wonju branch of the Chuncheon District Court filed charges of violating the Child and Adolescent Sexual Protection Act (including the production and distribution of sexual exploitative material, etc.)
Defendant A, a man in his 30s, was sentenced to three years in prison for violating the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (possession of sexual exploitative material) and the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes (taking and distributing photographs with a camera, possession of photographs with a camera, etc.).
He was sentenced to six months in prison, ordered to complete a 40-hour sexual assault treatment program and ordered to be banned from working in child and youth services or disability services for five years.
The Apple Watch and other items were confiscated. Defendant A was in charge of vehicle operation and other duties for a cram school for junior and senior high school students from January 2020 to October 29, 2024, and on September 20, 2022,
At around 3:40 p.m., the suspect used a specially modified iPhone to illegally photograph the body parts of a teenager named B on a school bus, and by September 30, 2024, had committed a total of 141 offenses against 17 people.
He is suspected of producing child and minor sexual exploitation material. In addition, at around 7:42 pm on October 11, 2024, he appeared to be working on a laptop computer in a store and used a mobile phone to access the front desk.
Since June 28, 2021, the suspect has illegally filmed the thighs and other parts of a woman wearing a skirt while sitting on a table for nine minutes, inducing sexual desire or shame in 261 people 196 times.
The indictment also included charges of illegally photographing a woman's body parts in a reading room for 16 days between May 31 and October 26, 2019.
Prior to this, in 2018, Defendant A was found to have been taking pictures of unspecified women's bodies on the street using a mobile phone camera, and on November 15 of the same year, he was indicted on charges of sexual violence by the Wonju Branch of the Chuncheon District Prosecutors' Office.
He was given a deferred prosecution for violating the Special Act on Photography (using a camera, etc.), and it was later discovered that he had purchased a specially modified iPhone over the Internet in an attempt to avoid detection.
After the trial, both the prosecution and the defendant appealed.
