JTBC's new Saturday and Sunday TV series "Good Boy," scheduled to premiere on May 31 at 10:40 p.m., is about a male police officer who becomes a police officer through special recruitment.
This is a comical action youth investigation drama in which the detectives, who wear police ID cards instead of medals around their necks and fight against a world where dishonesty and corruption are rampant.
The special action scenes are one of the exciting and refreshing highlights of "Good Boy." The process in which the actors poured all their blood, sweat and tears into becoming "Action Good Boy" is also special.
Park Bo-Gum, Kim Seohyun, Lee Sang Yi, Heo Seong Tae and Tae Won Seok have been training and preparing relentlessly to perfectly portray their respective roles.
Park Bo-Gum said that the action-packed drama "Good Boy" was a new challenge for me.
To become a better actor, he trained in strength training and boxing for more than six months, and actually learned the movements of Uzbek athletes by coordinating them with each other. He also worked closely with the action team on detailed plans until just before filming.
"As a member of a powerful special team, I put all my effort into each scene. I repeated the movements over and over until my body became accustomed to keeping up with the rapidly changing movements," he explained.
However, contrary to expectations that it was not an easy shoot, Park BoGum said, "Every day was a good day." He said that every moment he spent with the team was precious.
Park Bo-Gum's action acting, which he built up through constant sweat on camera, is expected to portray the hot fighting spirit of the character Yoon Dong-Ju even more clearly.
Kim Seohyun, who plays Ji Hanna, a police officer in a powerful special team known as the "Goddess of Shooting," took on a full-scale gun action role for the first time.
Although the shooting looks like a practice, it is said that the training required concentration and stamina, as the person had to maintain the same posture for more than 40 minutes. Kim Seohyun said, "I'm not just copying the form.
"Initially, even the weight of the gun was a burden, but as time went on, the gun felt like a part of my body," he said.
He shared his experience of being immersed in the action scenes, saying, "I even started to enjoy the muscle pain during training." He also said that through this process, he was able to see the determined efforts of the athletes,
He expressed his deep respect for her and said, "The scene where Hannah handles the gun relied heavily on special effects, and the joy I felt when she accurately hit the target was indescribable."
Lee Sang Yi will play the role of police officer Kim Jong Hyun, a former member and silver medalist in fencing, and has been training intensively for about six months.
"Because I was a former medalist, I wanted to perform fencing in a really good way. So I repeatedly trained my steps to build up the strength in my lower body and to move my feet quickly," he said.
He said he tried to do as many action scenes as he could himself, and recalled, "In the scenes where we were running and rolling together, there was a kind of comradeship that arose as our bodies collided with each other."
The production team said, "The actors put their best effort into each scene to bring out their own expertise and beliefs. Their efforts went beyond the action and breathed a strong energy into the entire story."
"Good Boy" will be broadcast on JTBC on Saturday, May 31 at 10:40 pm.
Once broadcast, the series will be made available to a global audience on the global streaming service Amazon Prime Video.
