The Yoon Seok-yeo and Kim Gun-hee Special Committee on the Liquidation of the Government (hereinafter referred to as the Special Committee) of the Fatherland Reform Party held a press conference at the National Assembly on the same day and announced,
If there is a risk of destruction or there is a possibility of a heavy sentence being imposed, the court may re-arrest the defendant."
The special committee said, "Not only is treason the most serious crime under the Criminal Code, but Yoon Seok-yeol
The government tried to destroy evidence by pressuring former Defense Minister Kim Yong-hyun, who was an accomplice, to make false statements.
"He is roaming the floor of the meeting and spouting sophistry to justify his own crimes," he said. "The person who attended the Cabinet meeting on the civil war (former Prime Minister Han Deok-soo) is the next prime minister.
"There is growing concern that Yoon Seok-youl is running as a candidate for the upcoming presidential election. Re-arrest is the only way to restore trust in the judiciary, which has been shattered," he said.
Former President Yoon was initially arrested and indicted on charges of being a rebel leader, but on March 7, the 25th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court, which is handling the case, revoked Yoon's arrest.
At the time, the detention period was calculated in days, as had been the custom, and the cancellation of the detention was calculated in hours, which caused controversy.
After being impeached, former President Yoon returned to his official residence in Seoul's Acrovista district and is currently staying in his private residence in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
