Candidate Kim's campaign team expressed their opinion that afternoon regarding the court's refusal to accept the provisional injunction application filed by candidate Kim to recognize his candidacy.
The camp said, "The Seoul Southern District Court has dismissed the application for provisional injunction filed by candidate Kim Moon-soo. However, the decision clearly states that Kim Moon-soo is the People's Power presidential candidate.
"Even the courts could not deny the status of candidate Kim Moon-soo. Kim Moon-soo is a clear presidential candidate," he said.
The court responded to candidate Kim's request to "confirm his status as a temporary presidential candidate."
The court also ruled that "As of now, the People's Power Party has not completely denied that candidate Kim is ineligible to be a candidate. There is no need to seek this partial application, and there is no practical benefit to seeking a ruling on a provisional injunction."
Regarding the request to "prevent the People's Power from granting candidate status to others," the court stated, "Candidate Kim has consistently run as independent candidate Han Deok-soo during the People's Power primary election.
In addition, the court ruled that "Kim, who has a direct stake in the process of unifying the candidates, has made clear his intention to do so."
"We cannot assume that the deputy prime minister will be unconditionally guaranteed party priority," he said. Lee Jong Hyun, a spokesman for Han's camp, said in a statement on the same day, "We are calmly watching the situation.
"What matters is the victory in the presidential election. Nothing else matters," he said. Meanwhile, the court also rejected a request by supporters of the People Power Party to ban further party conventions.
This means that People Power can hold its national committee and all-party conference as planned for today and this weekend.
