The institute was built within Hanwha Momentum's Asan facility and will develop next-generation battery equipment and manufacturing process technologies, including solid-state batteries and dry processes.
Through the R&D center, the company is able to secure process know-how for battery equipment and reduce the operating costs of research and development projects.
With the establishment of the new laboratory, the company plans to strengthen its services for each customer, as well as to collaborate with customers by proposing new efficient processes.
The company plans to expand its business scope. Prior to this, in early 2025, the company installed facilities for research into dry process technology development at the center. The facility will house patent-related materials for battery technology,
Dry process materials are also on display. In the second half of the year, the company plans to set up additional space to evaluate the quality and stability of battery cells and to research solid-state batteries, and to hire more researchers.
Ryu Hoi-young, head of the R&D center, said, "Through the process research institute, we will significantly strengthen our customer service and take a step forward as a superior machinery and equipment company."
