The People Power Party's presidential campaign is facing difficulties as key politicians who participated in the presidential primary election have turned their backs on it.
Former Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo left the party and went to the United States.
Former Chairman Han Dong-hoon has not responded to requests to participate in the election committee or to assist with campaigning. On the 15th, former Mayor Hong posted on his online communication channel, "Youth's Dream."
In a comment posted on Twitter, he wrote about People Power, "The party has never done anything for me. After watching them conduct a fraudulent primary election, I left the party I dedicated my youth to."
He continued, "Thirty years ago, when I didn't understand politics, I followed the persuasion of former President Roh Moo-hyun and joined the small Democratic Party. If I had done so, I would not have been able to learn these principles, morality, and common sense.
"I may not have felt any pain for a long time in a party where my words were not understood at all," Han said in a live YouTube broadcast the day before.
"But were they running?" he pointed out. The People's Power Party and candidate Kim Moon-soo have repeatedly called for support for the election of former Mayor Hong and former Chairman Han.
At a press conference that day, emergency response committee chairman Kim Yong-tae said, "The first role we need to play is to welcome the candidates who ran in the primary elections together with us.
Candidate Kim is said to be promoting a plan to send Rep. Kim Dae-sik, a close aide to former Mayor Hong, to the US to persuade him to return to the US.
Councilman Na Kyung-won, who was eliminated in the first primary election but joined the joint election strategy committee, said on an SBS radio program that former Mayor Hong
"I would like to plead with everyone to stop grieving for a while and join me in taking action," he said to Han.
