The spokesman said, "There have been various discussions up until now, but I believe that former President Yoon has been deeply concerned about what path he could take to benefit the party and his supporters."
"I also know that former President Yoon has been going through difficult times in order to make a decision that would pave the way for our supporters to avoid division," Kim Moon-soo, the ruling party candidate, said.
He continued, "This past week, the media's attention was focused on the 'department of former President Yoon', so our party's analysis and regret is that we were not able to properly convey the true merits of candidate Kim."
"Now that former President Yoon has left the party, I hope we can join forces and make sure that candidate Kim becomes president," he said.
Meanwhile, former President Yoon said on Fei Suk that "Today, I am the People's Power (the ruling party)
"Even if I leave the party, I will fight as a white-coat soldier (a soldier without rank) to protect freedom and sovereignty," he wrote, "I ask you to join forces for candidate Kim. Please be sure to vote."
