South Korean soldiers deployed overseas are voting overseas ahead of the 21st presidential election. The Joint Chiefs of Staff announced on the 23rd that "Our military will guarantee the voting rights of our soldiers deployed overseas from May 20th to 25th local time."
The Hanbit Contingent in South Sudan and the Dongmyeong Contingent in Lebanon, which are currently deployed to the United Nations peacekeeping operations (PKO), have set up polling stations within their units and are voting.
The Ark Force, which is deployed in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as part of military cooperation, is based at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the UAE, while the Cheonghae Force, which is conducting operations in Somalia and the Gulf of Aden, is based at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the UAE.
The polling stations for the Hanbit and Dongmyeong Units will be located within the units, and the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Election Commission will be in charge of the polling stations.
In addition, individual deployed soldiers voted at their country's embassy or consulate in the same manner as Japanese nationals living overseas.
