Regarding the reason for the defeat in the presidential election, former candidate Kim said, "The reason is that the People Power does not have a basic understanding and belief in democracy, and a clear mission to protect it.
"The power of the people elected a president who imposed martial law, and the fact that the will of the president was largely carried out unilaterally by the party requires deep self-reflection.
"The goal is important, but the means are also important, and yet (the president) used very inappropriate means, and we did not have the internal power to control them," he said.
He also criticized the change in presidential candidates. Former candidate Kim said, "Democracy within the party has collapsed. Who will be chosen as the party leader? Who will be chosen as a public office candidate?
"Democracy has completely disappeared. No one can deny that the way candidates for public office were selected is beyond reproach. Deep reflection and reform are needed," he said.
He also argued that "the people's power must play a clear and firm role in controlling the economy and people's livelihood."

"We need to have more democratic and open-minded rules within the party to deal with differences in opinion," he said.
