According to the education world, the questions in the English section of the National Federation of Academic Achievement Assessment (FISA) held on the 4th, along with the correct answers and explanations, were posted in advance in an open chat room with around 3,200 people, including cram school teachers.
The questions and answers were shared at 12:30 p.m., 40 minutes before the exam start time of 1:10 p.m., according to the report.
Normally, the questions and answers are released after the exam is over.
The Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education said, "To date, we have not been able to ascertain the structure of the SNS group chat room, the identity of the leaker, or the route or facts of the leak. We have requested the police to investigate and will take action against those involved and prevent recurrence."
"Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the education office will take further steps, such as taking action against those involved, and will strengthen security," the city's education office said.
The National Joint Academic Assessment has been conducted jointly by city and provincial education bureaus since the 2002 school year, and is not reflected in school report grades.
