Yoon's faction said on Facebook that "If even the judiciary collapses, who will protect this country?" and "This is a major breach of the court's power."
"This is a miscarriage of justice, and a self-inflicted harm to the judiciary itself by destroying justice," Yoon said. "Article 84 of the Constitution prohibits criminal prosecution of the president while he is in office, but it does not allow criminal prosecution of cases that have been ongoing since before he was elected."
"The interpretation of many constitutional scholars and legal professionals is that the court ruling does not apply to the president," he said. "Above all, Article 68, Clause 2 of the Constitution states, 'If the president-elect loses his/her qualifications due to a court ruling or other reason, he/she may resign within 60 days.
"The two clauses should be interpreted together," he said. "Nevertheless, the president is already on hold simply because he is in office.
"Stopping the lawsuit is nothing but a political decision that distorts the Constitution and gives a free pass to those in power," he said. "Such a decision by the judiciary is a violation of 'political favoritism,' 'judicial irresponsibility,' and 'the rule of law.'"
"This will go down in history as a 'betrayal of the people.'"
