During my time as an athlete, I endured the toughest training of anyone. I woke up at 4am and got in the water at 5am for nearly 30 years. I got whiplash without the carrot.
"It seems like I was doing a lot of hard things," he said. However, Park Tae Hwan said that his family was the driving force that allowed him to endure the training.
Park TaeHwan said, "My mother had a hard time fighting cancer in the past," and added, "No matter how much pain I feel like my heart is about to explode, it's nothing compared to the pain my mother is feeling."
"I think I was patient with that thought in mind," he recalled. When asked about the happiest moment in his career, Park TaeHwan said, "I felt good when I won first place, but I was more happy when I was buying a house for my parents."
The regulars of "Convenience Store Restaurant" revealed how Park Tae-Hwan, who was selected as the youngest national representative at the age of 14, endured the difficult times.
"The national hero was a filial son to the nation," he said, praising the man. Park TaeHwan also said, "I poured everything into swimming, but there was a time when I really wanted to quit."
