On the 12th, Channel A released CCTV footage showing a woman acting suspiciously at a bus stop in Seoul's Gangnam District on the 5th of this month.
In the CCTV footage, a woman with a bob haircut is seen walking down the street, suddenly stopping, and writing something on a no-parking sign. She was also caught on camera defacing a nearby utility pole. According to Channel A's report, the suspect's appearance matches that of individuals recently identified in Gangnam District and Gwangjin District, Seoul, who were involved in graffiti incidents insulting BoA. So far, graffiti has been confirmed at over 10 locations.
BoA's fans have been finding the graffiti sites and directly removing the graffiti, and in places where the graffiti was not completely removed, they have been covering it up by directly attaching paper. The police are analyzing surveillance camera footage and tracking the suspect's movements, as there is a possibility that the person who wrote the insulting graffiti is the same individual.
SM Entertainment stated, “We have confirmed the fact that numerous graffiti openly insulting artist BoA have been discovered in various locations in Seoul,” and added, “After directly inspecting the site near Gangnam Station, we immediately reported it to the local police station, where an investigation is currently underway, and we plan to submit an additional formal complaint today.”
They added, “Such acts of posting false information to damage the character and reputation of our artists, or publicly insulting them with the intent to defame them, constitute clear criminal acts. We will respond firmly in accordance with our principles without any leniency toward such criminal acts.”
