"I believe that we will once again pave the way for peace on the Korean Peninsula," he said.
At the "Democratic Government Korean Peninsula Peace Inheritance and Development Council Inauguration Ceremony," President Moon delivered a congratulatory message through a proxy reader as follows:
In his message, President Moon strongly criticized the North-South policy of the previous administration of President Yoon Seok-yeol, saying, "Three years of reverse course have caused North-South relations to collapse to the point where they are difficult to recover, and the Korean peninsula has been destroyed."
"The island is in the most dangerous situation since the Korean War," he said. "The international order is being swept away by rough seas amid the dark clouds of the US-China hegemony competition and the new Cold War, and North Korea's nuclear weapons and missiles are becoming more sophisticated."
"The Lee administration now has the important responsibility to resolve this dire situation and open up a new era of peace," he said.
He also said, "The burden on the shoulders of the new administration will inevitably be heavy, but we will continue the achievements of the Democratic Party administration.
"We will make further progress in this area and bring about great advances in peace on the Korean Peninsula," he said. "The process will not be smooth, but we must find new ways to solve this high-level equation."
