韓国与党「対北ビラ散布、国境線地域住民の安全を脅かす」
South Korea's ruling party: ”Distribution of anti-North Korean leaflets threatens the safety of border residents”
On the 14th, the ruling Democratic Party of Korea announced that a gathering of families of abductees (by North Korea) was taking place at Imjingak in Paju, Gyeonggi Province, where anti-North Korean leaflets were being distributed.
A spokesman for the Democratic Party of Korea said at a press conference on the same day, "Rather than unnecessarily threatening the safety of border residents, we must face each other together for the protection of human rights in North Korea and peace on the Korean Peninsula."
"We hope that the distribution of anti-North Korea leaflets will be treated as a violation of existing laws, such as the Aviation Safety Act," the spokesman said. "The police and related local governments will also take appropriate measures against the illegal distribution of anti-North Korea leaflets.
"We call for a strong response," he said. "The three-year rule of the previous Yoon Seok-yeol administration, which was mired in ideology and camp-based logic, led to tensions between the North and South, including the September 19 military talks being rendered ineffective.
"The consequences have reached their peak," he said, adding, "The entire nation, including those living in border areas, must bear the consequences."
He also said, "The Lee Jae Myung administration prioritizes the safety of its people above all else.
"I hope that the Democratic Party of Korea will prioritize our interests," he said, emphasizing that "the Democratic Party of Korea will also do its utmost to ensure peace on the Korean Peninsula and the safety of residents in border areas."
