The man who was driving drove for about 10 kilometers before being stopped by police. On the 19th, Jincheon Police Station in North Chungcheong Province arrested a man in his 50s on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act and obstructing public duties.
The police revealed that they had issued an indictment without detention to a male suspect, A. A is accused of stealing a city bus parked at a bus terminal in the city at around 2:00 pm on the 31st of last month and of dangerous driving.
According to police investigations, suspect A opened the door at the bus terminal, got on a parked bus and started driving. Other drivers noticed this and started driving.
The suspect ignored the traffic lights at the intersection, crossed the center line, and drove dangerously in adjacent lanes, causing a traffic jam.
Police responded immediately and ordered the vehicle to stop five minutes later, but it continued to flee. It was confirmed that suspect A was driving dangerously, not slowing down even in a child protection zone.
In the end, police blocked the front and back of the bus with patrol cars and forced it to stop. Suspect A refused to get off the bus, so the police broke the glass at the front entrance, entered the bus and arrested him.
During police questioning, it was revealed that suspect A stated that, "I started the crime impulsively, but halfway through, a scene from a movie came to mind."
There were no signs of alcohol or drugs in the test results. In addition, although suspect A had previously held a large vehicle license to drive a bus, at the time of the crime, the license had been revoked.
A police official said, "During the investigation, there were some dangerous situations, such as the city bus suddenly changing lanes, but there were no major accidents.
"To prevent accidents, buses must be locked when parked or stopped," he said.
