Kakao and the National Pension Service partner to make 70 types of related documents available for viewing on the app (South Korea)
The IT giant Kakao announced that it will cooperate with the National Pension Service of Korea to provide a mobile electronic document service using the chat app "KakaoTalk." Users can use KakaoTalk to receive electronic documents from the National Pension Service of Korea.
You can receive important documents related to your pension through Kakao. You can receive about 70 types of electronic documents issued by the National Pension Service, such as notices regarding your membership details and pension receipt, and notices of refunds for overpayments and erroneous payments, through Kakao.
When viewing documents, users can go through a process of identity verification using the Kakao Certificate of Authenticity, a Kakao identity document that is recognized as a substitute for public documents, ensuring security.
In 2023, Kakao obtained a license from the Ministry of Science and ICT to operate as a public electronic document intermediary company. It has been providing the "KakaoTalk Electronic Document Service" since April 2024.
KakaoTalk's electronic document service is currently used by around 300 public and private organizations, including the National Tax Service, the Military Manpower Administration, the Korea Transportation Safety Agency, and the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.
Kim Jae-hong, Squad Leader of Kakao's Wallet Business, said, "We will continue to expand the scope of our electronic document services and reduce the costs of creating and shipping paper documents.
This will also contribute to environmental protection."
