An Asiana Airlines plane that departed from Incheon Airport and was heading to Narita Airport experienced an engine malfunction and had to return to Incheon Airport.
According to the Incheon International Airport Corporation and other sources, the Asiana Airlines flight took off from Incheon Airport Terminal 1 at around 6:29 p.m. on the 21st.
The plane, flight OZ108, turned back about an hour after takeoff and landed at Incheon Airport. It was discovered that there were 263 passengers on board.
According to the Gyeonggi Ilbo, a witness reported hearing a "bang" and then a crash on the left side of the plane shortly after it took off.
Flames were reportedly coming out of the engine. Asiana is currently investigating the exact cause of the accident. After waiting at the airport, passengers were scheduled to depart on an emergency flight at 4:30 a.m. on the 22nd.
