Dog with 70 bullets buried in its body: ”It's a miracle it's alive” - Korea
Following the recent controversy over a dog being shot to death by BB guns at a restaurant in Geoje, a dog has been found with dozens of bullets buried all over its body, sparking public outrage once again.
According to the VIP Animal Medical Center on the 25th, a recent health check on a dog rescued by Dog Us Planet and preparing to be transferred overseas produced shocking results.
The dog had more than 70 shotgun fragments buried in its body. It is unclear why the shotgun bullets were buried in the dog's body, and the veterinary hospital conducted detailed examinations such as X-rays and CT scans.
"There were so many bullet wounds from the head to the shoulders, chest, buttocks and legs," said Ahn Seung-yeop, director of the VIP Animal Medical Center, adding, "It's a miracle that he's still alive."
The operation to remove the shotgun fragments took three hours. The bullets could not be seen with the naked eye, so the operation had to be performed under the guidance of a X-ray machine.
Director Ahn explained that a total of 26 pieces of shrapnel were removed, saying, "It is practically difficult to remove all the bullets in one go, so we decided to remove as many as possible, focusing on the face."
The hospital plans to analyze the components of the removed fragments and decide whether to perform further surgery. The dog, named Ki Dong Yi, was reportedly waiting for its family.
A representative from Goo As Planet said, "Even though Ki Dong Yi has a small scar on his face, there is a lot of charm that can be seen even in the parts that cannot be seen," and added, "We think that he will be a really good family member and friend."
Recently, there have been cases of brutal animal abuse, such as a dog being shot with hundreds of BB guns and having its ankles cut off. On the 8th of this month, a group of people, including two soldiers, killed a dog kept in a restaurant in Geoje.
The two soldiers were shot with hundreds of BB bullets at a dog, one of which was found dead and two with damaged eyes, sparking controversy. Police have now handed the case against the two soldiers over to the military unit, and another man has been charged.
He has been charged with violating the Animal Protection Act, trespassing, and property damage.
