Park Sung Hoon, chief spokesman for the People's Power, said in a commentary on the same day, "President Lee has taken a firm stance against Education Minister candidate Lee Jin-sook, who plagiarized the thesis of her student.
"As a result, the government withdrew its nomination, but essentially forced through the appointment of Kang Son-woo, the nominee for Minister of Gender Equality and Family, who incurred public anger with his false explanations and allegations of power harassment."
"This decision is a case that shows the true face of Lee Jae-myung-style pragmatism, which is, 'I will unconditionally protect those on my side,'" said Park.
"The double standard of protecting those who have shown loyalty and cutting the losses of those who have drawn the line by not recommending themselves is a case of personnel monopoly aimed at protecting close aides that is far removed from fairness, common sense and the public's perspective," he continued.
He added, "Was he afraid of putting the stigma on candidate Kang, who served him, as the first incumbent politician to lose his seat? The more serious issue is that this appointment shows his National Assembly aides and the public, 'This is not a good enough man to lose.'"
This sent the wrong signal that "power harassment by the government must be tolerated," which is a serious secondary damage and goes beyond personnel management failure to a secondary personnel disaster that has even insulted the public.
