South Korean Presidential Office ”Completing procedures to ensure personnel appointments are in line with the public's perspective”
While there are criticisms that there may be a problem with the personnel verification system, such as the voluntary withdrawal of Minister of Gender Equality and Family candidate Kang Sun-woo, the Presidential Office has established a personnel verification system that is in line with the public's perspective.
Presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jeong said at a press conference held at the Presidential Office in Yongsan, Seoul on the afternoon of the 24th, "Presidential office personnel decisions are made through legal procedures.
"This will be accomplished through personnel verification and personnel procedures," he said. "In regards to positions appointed by the president, a personnel committee chaired by the chief of staff to the president is currently in operation to ensure the fairness of personnel."
He continued, "In addition to conducting rigorous investigations, we are taking steps under the presidency of the chief secretary to make procedural adjustments to ensure personnel fairness that is more in line with the public's perspective."
In response to a question about the composition of the personnel committee, the spokesman said, "I understand that it is not made public."
"However, all relevant operating regulations have been prepared, and the operation is being carried out legally with these aspects in mind," he added.
