Saltlux teams up with KT to develop world's best LLM
AI (artificial intelligence) company Saltlux has formed a consortium with KT to jointly develop the "Independent AI Foundation Model Development Project" led by the Ministry of Science and ICT.
This project is a Korean government project aimed at increasing Korea's self-reliance in AI technology through the development of an original LLM (ultra-large language model), and is attracting attention from the industry.
In particular, a total of 15 consortiums participated in the project application deadline on the 21st, and the KT consortium, which includes Saltlux, which has already secured LLM's unique technical capabilities, is a leading contender.
Saltlux, which recently released 'LUXIA 3', plans to work with KT on this project to jointly learn and develop its own foundation model.
Saltlux's proprietary LLM "LUXIA" and inference-specialized technology are expected to be combined with KT's citizen service infrastructure through this project, leading to faster commercialization and social dissemination.
The consortium includes KT and Saltlux, AI data construction specialist Crowdworks, a global AI learning platform called MathPr

Meanwhile, according to the "2025 Korea AI Company Technology Competitiveness Analysis Report" published by AI specialist WERT INTELLIGENCE, Saltlux has been ranked 1st in the last 10 years.
In terms of the number of AI-related patent applications and registrations, KT ranked fifth after Naver, LG AI Research Institute, and SKT, and rose to the top among mid-level AI companies. KT ranked first with 70 applications, followed by Sa
Ltlux was recognized for its technological uniqueness and specialization in 24 cases. In particular, KT was rated as the only company to hold an A-grade patent in this report.
Saltlux owns its own LLM model "LUXIA" and a diverse patent portfolio based on it, and the technical cooperation between the two companies is expected to produce great synergy effects.
Saltlux CEO Lee Kyung-il said, "We will work with a reliable partner like KT to become a global leader in both name and reality, based on Saltlux's unique model and technological capabilities.
"We will develop the highest level of AI models," he said, adding, "Saltlux already has the technical capabilities and capabilities to develop its own models, but they share our vision of making Korea an AI powerhouse."
The Ministry of Science and ICT (Ministry of Science and Technology) of South Korea will select 10 candidate consortiums for the first round of the project at the end of this month.
After a thorough selection process, the five final operators will be announced in early August. Meanwhile, Saltlux will develop a system for responding to requests for assistance based on the inference agent technology developed through its subsidiary company, GOOVER.
The company also plans to actively promote AI services for citizens, with the aim of increasing the applicability of the Foundation model to real life.
