President Lee Jae-myung held a meeting of city and provincial governors across the nation on the 1st, emphasizing the importance of revitalizing local areas. On this day, President Lee held a meeting of 17 metropolitan and provincial governors at the Presidential Office in Yongsan.
"As we have clearly shown with the distribution of consumption coupons this time, we will provide more incentives to the regions than to the metropolitan area. We will not provide everything equally, but we will maintain a balance of more support," he said.
"I have tried to realize this idea through this policy," he said, adding, "I would like to strengthen these principles as much as possible in future national policy decisions and budget allocations. I hope that the city and provincial governors will support us."
"If you can suggest the most efficient development strategy needed for our region, we will respect your opinion," he said.
"I believe that local governments have a very important role to play in taking appropriate measures. I would like to ask for more consideration than now to be given to protecting the lives and safety of the people," he added.

Mayor Yoo said, "In his inaugural address, the president said that now is the time to revive the people's livelihood, which has been pushed to the brink, restore growth, and create a happy tomorrow for everyone. Restoring people's livelihood and economic growth are the foundation of the people.
I believe that answers can be found in the field in the everyday lives of the people, and that only field policies can guarantee the happiness of the people.
It is true that the current political and administrative system is at its limits due to various unfair financial regulations. We will prepare a decentralized constitutional amendment bill that will incorporate the spirit of decentralization into the constitution, and will end the central government's centralized autonomy and organizational powers.
"We need to boldly delegate personnel authority and coordination authority to local governments in a rational manner," he said. At the meeting, Minister of the Interior and Safety Yoon Ho-jung then presented a plan for dealing with natural disasters.
He also gave an announcement on the comprehensive measures, the current status of application and distribution of livelihood recovery consumption coupons, and plans to promote their use.
