4,000 people evacuated after message about ”explosives” posted at Shinsegae Department Store in Seoul, South Korea
South Korean police deployed a special forces unit after receiving a report of a threatening post on an internet community claiming that an explosive device had been planted at the main branch of Shinsegae Department Store in Seoul.
A search was conducted, but no explosives were found. This led to an emergency evacuation of approximately 4,000 customers and employees. Debert has since reopened for business.
On the 5th, the Seoul National Police Agency announced that it had conducted a search for explosives at the Shinsegae Department Store main branch in Jung-gu that afternoon.
The police deployed personnel, including police special forces, throughout the entire building, including the main building, new building, and HYERI Tage.
A total of 242 people were deployed and the search lasted for about an hour and a half, but no explosives were found. The search ended at about 3:59 pm and the restrictions on the site were lifted. As a result, about 300 passengers using the Debato were killed.

Prior to that, at around 12:36 noon, a post was posted on the internet community "DC Inside" that read, "Never go to the main branch of Shinsegae Department Store.
The post allegedly read, "We have placed explosives on the first floor today," and "It will explode at 3:00 p.m. today." A Shinsegae department store official said, "After completing a search of all floors, we will detonate the explosives at 4:20 p.m.
The police are investigating the person who posted the message, including tracking the IP address.
