Asiana Airlines to continue cargo business in partnership with British ECS Group - South Korean media
Asiana Airlines has sold its cargo business to Air Incheon, but will continue its Belly Cargo business, which it is running together with the UK-based cargo transportation company ECS Group.
The ECS Group is one of the largest air cargo agents in the industry, partnering with approximately 100 airlines in 60 countries around the world. Belly Cargo transports cargo using the space underneath passenger aircraft.
By utilizing passenger routes, it is possible to ensure fast delivery with regular flights. Asiana Airlines uses passenger aircraft to transport approximately 158,000 tons of belly cargo per year.
Starting on the 1st, the ECS Group will begin providing all the services necessary for cargo transportation, including operations, reservations, customer support, and coordination with ground handling operations.
Prior to this, on July 11, Asiana Airlines signed an agency contract with ECS Group to operate air cargo and provide transportation services to Europe, the US, China, Japan, Southeast Asia, and other countries.
Asiana Airlines' flagship aircraft, the Airbus 350-900, can carry up to 18 tons of cargo and checked baggage in the lower fuselage.
The company plans to actively respond to logistics demand for cargo that requires scheduled transport, such as semiconductor parts, fresh food, and small, special cargo.
