According to a report by Joy News 24 on the 13th, Chae Jong-hyeop sent a certified letter to Popcorn Film, the production company of the film “Turtle,” notifying them of the termination of his contract. In response, Popcorn Film, through the law firm Pacific Co., Ltd., stated that “any unilateral termination or cancellation of the contract is invalid” and warned of legal action.
However, Chae Jong-hyeop's side countered, “The responsibility lies with the production company.”
Blitzway, Chae Jong-hyeop's agency, stated, “The film ‘Turtle’ had a specific shooting period outlined in the contract, and Chae Jong-hyeop was scheduled to begin filming the drama after completing the shoot within that period.”
They added, “However, due to circumstances on the production company's side, the filming period specified in the contract was exceeded, and we confirmed that there was no prior consultation or agreement between the actor, the drama broadcast channel, and the drama production company regarding the change in filming schedule. Therefore, we were forced to notify the production company of the contract termination.”
Finally, the agency stated, “After the drama filming was completed, we proposed to the production company to proceed with the movie filming, but no agreement was reached, so we were forced to send a notice of contract termination. We still prioritize amicable negotiations, but if no adjustments are made, we plan to take legal action in accordance with the contract and relevant laws.”
