Baek Jongwon, Lim Soo Hyang, Suho, and Choi Jeong Hyeop began preparing the first dinner. The first dish was chicken nanban and sausages made with chicken that had been in the freezer for over a year.
It was a stir-fried dish of puzi and rape blossoms. Since all the ingredients were frozen, the first thing to do was to defrost them. I defrosted them in cold water to maintain the flavor and texture, but they didn't thaw even after an hour.
Choi Jeong-hyup devoted himself to the thawing process, taking the chicken pieces apart one by one with his hands for 40 minutes. Before going to Antarctica, Choi Jeong-hyup had been undergoing intensive training to become a "tempura master."
Nghyup confidently completed the fried chicken. Suho cut the thawed pickled radish into small pieces to give texture to the tartar sauce. He then carefully arranged the food and served it to the wintering team members.
The wintering team members, who have been working hard for 11 months in the distant and harsh Antarctic, could not hide their excitement at the thought of eating a meal prepared by someone other than chef Ahn Chi-young.
While the honorary members waited nervously, the wintering team members repeatedly said, "It's delicious." Choi Jeong-hyup was touched, saying, "I'm very grateful that they ate it so deliciously," and Su-ho also said, "It was delicious."
"I have to prepare another delicious meal," he said, expressing his determination for the next meal. On the morning of the second day, all the expedition members gathered at Sejong Hall for a briefing on the rapidly changing weather conditions in Antarctica.
Captain Lee Hyung-geun said, "We have urgent business to attend to," and dispatched Lee Byung-hak, who is in charge of electronic communications, and the engineer in charge of machinery and equipment, to troubleshoot the malfunction of the radio signal repeater installed in Nabibong.
The task was assigned to Kang Dong-kyung, the officer in charge. Lim Soo-hyang and Suho were also in charge of the task. As soon as they got off the snowmobile at Nabibong, even grown men could not bear it.
