Song Eon-seok, the head of the National Assembly's emergency response committee and floor leader of the People Power Party, the largest opposition party in South Korea, said at a press conference held at the National Assembly in Seoul on the 24th, "There are some positive reviews of the results of the Korea-Japan summit.
"President Lee Jae-myung, when he was the leader of the opposition party, was engrossed in anti-Japanese incitement, but this time he approached the issue with the aim of strengthening friendly relations between Korea and Japan and cooperation between Korea, the United States and Japan.
He continued, "Now that the Korea-US summit is coming up, I hope that the US will also show a pragmatic approach," and added, "The irresponsible statements made during the previous Yoon Seok-yeol administration
He also pointed out, "When he was in the opposition party, President Lee said, 'The US military is an occupying force,'" and added, "His position now as president of South Korea is different from before.
"We need to clearly show how much things have changed (compared to the past)."
