It has been revealed that actor Park Jung Min participated in the film "The Face" without any pay. The film is about a blind man named Lim who is reborn as a seal engraver.
The film follows Yeong-gyu and his son, Lim Dong-hwan (Park Jung Min), as they delve into the mystery surrounding the death of his wife and mother, who disappeared 40 years ago. Directed by Yeon Sang-ho.
Above all, director Yeon Sang Ho, who had been anxious to make a film in an environment outside the framework of conventional filmmaking methods, spent only two weeks in pre-production with about 20 of his close film colleagues.
The film was completed with only the introduction and 13th filming, and it garnered Hot Topic. Furthermore, the lead actor, Park Jung Min, agreed with the director's intentions by not receiving a performance fee.
Park Jung Min said, "I thought it was meaningful to be able to contribute to a good movie and story. I've always admired the director. I feel comfortable being with him."
"They said they had a new project but the production budget was low, so I thought it would be lame to ask for a certain amount, and so I said I would go for it based on my passion," he explained.
Director Yeon Sang Ho also said, "Every time I work on a film, I want to make a new film.
I felt a strong desire to make a film with a new soul. I thought that a new body might be needed to make a film with a new soul, so I decided to try making it in a way I had never done before.
However, he said, "Of course, I was afraid that the movie would not turn out well. I was worried that the visual quality and the results would not be good.
"The worry itself was a bottleneck for the new production method. I started out thinking I had to shake off my fear, but once the team was formed, I no longer felt any fear.
In fact, it was the most relaxed filming location,” he recalled. The film “Face,” which director Yeon Sang Ho produced in a completely new way, has already been selected as one of the four major film festivals in the world.
The film was officially invited to appear in the special presentation section of the 50th Toronto International Film Festival, one of the largest festivals in North America. The film is scheduled to be released in Korea on September 11th.
